Training
Welcome New Leaders. Congratulations! Becoming a new leader can seem overwhelming at times. There are many aspects to the Scouting program that may seem foreign to you at first but the fun your son and his friends have will make the short time you spend getting oriented worthwhile. You are joining a team of over 4,500 adult volunteers in the Lewis & Clark Council who make the Scout handbook come alive for the 23,000 youth active in our fifteen-county area. The first place to begin is at our award winning national on-line training website, https://myscouting.scouting.org. (See directions below.)
We also offer weekend and week-night training sessions around the council territory. Dates are listed on the right for current training opportunities.
MyScouting.org directions:
There are many training courses that can be taken online at www.myscouting.org.
-
Create an account - this can be done with or without your BSA membership id.
-
If you enter your membership ID, your training records will be updated at the council office.
-
If you are not yet registered, you can still take the training; just print the certificate at the end of each course.
-
After your account is created, you will receive an email with a link. Click the link to activate your myscouting account. This must be done before you can log in. If you do not receive an email, check your spam/junk folder.
-
Once you log in to myscouting, click E-Learning on the left hand side. Trainings are listed under tabs (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, and General).
-
Submit your certificate of completion to your District Training Chair.
-
Click on training validation* to review what courses you have taken, this includes courses recorded at the council office.
*After logging onto MyScouting.org, click on "Training Validation" and you can check to see if your trainings have been recorded in the council's computer system.
We are encouraging all units to use this system to check the training status of all of their leaders. All you need is a list of membership ID numbers and you can review the training status of the registered adult leaders. A list of these numbers can be found on your charter paperwork or you can obtain a list from your District Professional.
