Camping is the heart of the Scouting program and through experiences in the outdoors, Scouts build character, learn important new skills, practice leadership, and build the character values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Lewis & Clark Council operates four camps - Camp Joy, Camp Sunnen, Camp Vandeventer, and Camp Warren Levis - that each offer something unique for your Scouts and your unit...
The Southwest Illinois area has a long history of providing great Scouting programs to youth. In fact, the Lewis & Clark Council continues to enhance our four Scout camps to serve even more youth in Scouting. Although our camps continue to change, the values of the Scouting program have stayed just as vital as ever. The programs offered at our council camps are known as some of the best around, and we encourage all Scouts, Scouters, their families and friends, to take advantage of the opportunities available at our camps and explore these beautiful properties first-hand.
Our camps host many large Scouting events including Cub Scout Day and Resident Camp, Boy Scout and High Adventure camp, Haunted Hayride, Rendezvous, Webelos Outdoor Weekend, National Youth Leader Training, and Wood Badge. Districts often utilize the camps for Camporees, Cuborees, and trainings. Troops, Packs, and Crews are encouraged to camp out and take part in the great programs offered throughout the year. Facilities are also available for rental from community organizations, chartered partners, and businesses, often at rates more reasonable than those offered by other facilities. It's easy to see that the Lewis & Clark Council camps offer something for everyone.
