STEM Merit Badge Day
November 1, 2014
SIUE Science Building West
The Lewis & Clark Council STEM Merit Badge Day is intended to engage our youth members in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, through the context of the current BSA advancement program. The BSA's STEM initiative gives Scouts an opportunity to explore relevant skills and experiences and to be recognized for their achievements. The aim is to expose youth to new opportunities and help them develop the STEM skills critical for the competitive world marketplace.
We will be offering Chemistry, Computers, Digital Technology, Electricity, Electronics, Energy, Engineering, Nuclear Science, Programming, Robotics, and Sustainability.
Scouting for Food - 2014
The biggest single community service event that we do as a Council is our Scouting for Food Drive. Last year, thousands of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Explorers collected over 400,000 food items. We know we will increase that amount this year!
This year, we are again partnering with the Greater St. Louis Area Council and will have bags. We will also share in the great publicity with this good turn region wide. The food collected between the two council's will hopefully total around 2.5 million food items. That is the single largest one-day food drive in all of America.
The date set to deliver bags is Saturday, November 8th. The food pickup date is Saturday, November 15. Thousands of our Scouts will deliver food items to local pantries in all communities in the Lewis & Clark Council.
Except for Cahokia Mounds District, bags and detailed plans were distributed at October Roundtables. Cahokia Mounds will distribute their bags at the November Roundtable.
The community needs our help. What an outstanding way to let our Scouts see first-hand the true meaning of a good turn.

Rams Scout Honor Day
November 30, 2014
Every year more than a million Cub Scouts and adult partners team up to participate in a Pinewood Derby®, a tradition that goes back generations. As a coach and a Cub Scout design, carve, paint, weigh, refine, and race the car, a bond of partnership is created. This is at the heart of the event’s success. In addition, Cub Scouts build confidence and take pride in their own growing skills and hard work. So enjoy the ride!
